The Antidote to Sarah Palin

I’m feeling guilty.  I made you, my blogging buddies, listen to Sarah Palin’s drunken, rambling endorsement of Donald Trump.

I’m hoping you’ll forgive me if I share this with you.

See?  There is goodness in the world. And it can be found in Washington, DC. at the National Zoo.

It’s easy to avoid Sarah Palin, here in DC.  Because they keep her in the reptile house.

  1. I’m so glad to know there is an antidote. Can we mass produce it?

  2. You are forgiven. Panda beats Palin every time.

  3. Awwwwww. Pandas are adorable – isn’t it great that Washingtonians can at least agree on one thing?

  5. That’s more like it. But don’t feel bad about subjecting me to S. Palin. I roll right by video or audio with her on it. Fast forward with a flurry. Every time.

  6. You’re forgiven, Elise – ’cause, you know, PANDAS!

  7. That panda trumps Palin by a couple hundred miles. Pardon the unintended pun. It just came out that way.

  8. I could not force myself to watch Sarah Palin’s rant. It would have ruined my week, but loved the panda, Elyse. I was hoping that at some time, Palin would just go away, but I’m overly optimistic that way.

  9. Unbelievably cute… I finally saw Palin’s rant. I mean, she had to be drunk, right? How did Trump feel about that performance? Was he mortified or totally into it? So strange.

I fear that as we get better at things and overall smarter, we hand authority over to stupider people. I hate to sound mean, but I sense that people like Trump and Palin are politically intelligent but really just douchebags. Back to watching cuddly creatures in snowstorms…

    • Palin DID sound drunk. I would be too if I had to look at myself in a mirror and realize what a moron I was, I would be drunk all the time too. Trump looked incredibly awkward and uncomfortable — like when you bring a jerk to a party.

I think we’re just expecting everything to be done for us. We feel like life should be a breeze, and nothing should involve any effort. Not learning stuff (hey, Google!), not cooking (microwaves), not anything. Why should thinking be any different? We are destroying ourselves.

  10. Now, why can’t Sarah Palin just quietly roll in the snow, too?

  11. I’m voting for the panda… write in candidate.

  12. I am just starting to catch up on reading. I have good reason, truly. The panda, far to cute. But some of the responses? Very good also.

    • I have over 300 emails in my blog folder. I will soon be hitting delete rather liberally, although this storm has me able to catch up a bit!

I am a sucker for a cute animal video. I’ve been trying to capture my dog Duncan in the snow, but he is elusive. I did get him pooping, but that wasn’t quite what I had in mind!

  14. Funny…that’ wasn’t my reaction at all this morning. Not at 8:00 when I shoveled the driveway, nor 5:00 when I shoveled it a second time. I thought we were going to have a big laugh at your expense but it turns out it was just as bad up here. I think that’s karma.

  15. So much snow! Tian is adorable. There was really nothing to forgive. 22 inches? Wow.

    • We think that we ended up with 24 inches — I measured it at 23 before I went to bed, and it was still coming down and predictions were that it would keep on for another 2 hours. But the power stayed on. Amazing! So the snow is manageable. It is so much worse when you can’t get warm and dry when you are cold and wet!

You are forgiven. But the panda is sinfully cute, so now you have a new problem. Did you know that pandas are actually raccoons, and not bears? As for the snow, my niece is flying out of DC on Tuesday (supposedly). I hope Reagan International has caught up with its backlog by then.

    • The planes will be flying and the main roads will be clear. But not much else. So it all depends on where she is now!

She lives in Maryland. The planes will be lying or fflying? For some *!#@ing reasons, WordPress is spell-correcting so that you have to use two ff’s in the f word. F-ing WordPress!

        • Flying. With an F. The news JUST reported that the airports will stay closed tomorrow (Sunday). But even here I am sure flights will go onMonday. But there is a ripple effect.

The problem is, it takes FOREVER for them to plow the neighborhoods. If she lives/is staying in a subdevelopment she may not be able to get out to the airport.

Yikes. She lives in a rural area. Looks like her visit to California may be postponed a little. Thanks for the info, Elyse.

            • Well, it depends. I am in a rural area, but on a well-traveled road. I’ll be plowed out soon. They’ve already been by a couple of times. It really is the neighborhoods where folks end up stuck. I don’t know how long she’s lived there, but she will probably have a good idea of what is in store for her. Or her neighbors will!

  19. Although I enjoyed the panda, I hate to tell you, but two consecutive posts around Sarah Palin is not worth your time. As you know (but your readers may not know), one best is the best descriptor http://tinyurl.com/zhgsqxc

Oooooh. I want to share this with Littler right now, but he just went down for a nap! The good news is sharing this would have made napping really hard, as he’d have howled “again again again again” and resisted sleep in order to keep watching that cuteness. Well rested againagainagainagain is much preferable. 🙂
