Birthday Board

There are some songs that just make you smile.  There are others that make you think of people.  There are some that get stuck in your head.

There are people like that too.  People who make you smile, who make you laugh, who make you hit yourself upside your own head and say to them in the most embarrassing moments,  “You’re Nuts!”

This song is like my son, Jacob.  He makes me smile, makes me feel good.  Sometimes he keeps me up all night swimming around in my head, thinking, “He’s Nuts!”  And you know what?  He IS!

Happy 22nd Birthday to my favorite longboarder (see Mom shudder.  Shudder Mom Shudder).

  1. I love this song, its video and the context in which I discovered them! I’m too late to the birthday party, but I hope it was awesome.

(I hope someday I can do one trick on my longboard. Right now, I feel accomplished simply being able to ride it in a straight line.)

    • You ride a longboard? You’re nuts, too! Be careful!

Jacob has always been into wheels. He was a great rollerbladers for many years — even skated the streets of Paris from below the Eiffel Tower to Notre Dame.

Thanks for the wishes; you’re never lat to a virtual party.

    • Thanks for the return visit.

I’ll confess I had to scroll back up there to see what he was wearing. I actually wish he’d go back to this style. I didn’t have to tell him to pull up his pants all the time!

      • I thought that baggy pants phase was out of style now that skinny jeans for boys is in, or do they just wear skinny jeans low on their waist too? I am out of touch!

        • My son wears baggy ones. Always.

I tried to convince him that it really isn’t a smart way to dress when I told a story about a dumb criminal. The man walked into a 7-11 holding a gun and his pants up. When the cashier gave the guy the money, the robber couldn’t hold all three; he tripped on his pants, fell and was arrested.

“We’ll,Mom,” my son responded, “guess I won’t be robbing 7-11s for a living.” That was not supposed to be the lesson.

  5. Happy Birthday to Jacob. I think he probably does the same pondering about his Mom.
That video is really something. I don’t even know those kids and I held my breath the whole time.

    • Thanks, Michelle.

Yes, skateboards make me very nervous, they always have. He wears a helmet and padding. I still hate it. But I love the song!

  10. Happy Birthday to Jacob …. as something different, take a lesson — at my last job, instead of singing the birthday song (which you can’t sing anymore anyway, because the song police will bust your ass), we came up with an alternative song — one that everyone knows: The Oscar Mayer Bologna song.

Believe me, it’s tough to be crabby about your birthday when you’ve got a bunch of people singing the B-o-l-o-g-n-a song to you ….

    • Burp-day? Does that mean alcohol will be involved?

I love the song too. I worry about my baby being on one of those boards, though.

        • Ugh. Instead of requesting one of mom’s wonderful from scratch cakes, he wanted a Funfetti B-Day cake. Where did I go wrong?

          • heheheheh Elyse..I don’t like to say it…but maybe it was just time he learned (for himself with a Funfetti B-day cake) that mom’s cake is the best and has no replacement for it!!!
It could also be the he may have wanted you to take a rest and enjoy not bothering about a cake..
Or well, maybe Funfetti just had a great marketing team? hehehehe
