Doggie Bags

Today is Duncan’s birthday — his 3rd!  He is a wonderful dog.  Sweet, relatively obedient, and incredibly lovable.

Duncan Easter 2 2017

The Birthday Boy!

But I went a bit overboard with doggie treats for this good boy this year.  So I figured I’d share them with his friends at the park.  In a way that would be good for the earth.  In a way that positively shouts “DOG!” I made doggie goodie bags!

Goodie Bags

OK, in the stupidest way possible.  I used biodegradable dog poop bags, and filled them full of delicious brown dog treats.  That way, if I missed any of the morning friends Duncan and I usually walk with, I could leave one on their car.

A dog poop bag filled with brown stuff, left on a car.  What could possibly go wrong?

Luckily for me, we saw his friends, and they and their parents were delighted by the goodie bags.  They didn’t think me weird for

  1. Making doggie goodie bags,
  2. Using poop bags for party bags; or
  3. Expecting that if they found one of these on their car that they would open it up and feed it to their dog.

  5. It doesn’t matter. Dogs will eat anything, including poop. Especially cat poop–it’s a delicacy for them.

Who on this earth better to make treat bags that look like piles of poop than you?
    You’re a good momma ❤

  10. Happy B-day Duncan. Great idea, Elyse, although not being a dog person, I would have instantly thought it was a bag of poop. Ha!

    • Ha! I AM a dog person, and I would have thought it was a bag of poop! I certainly wouldn’t have checked. Then I would have spent the rest of my life figuring out who I’d offended!

  12. I think we should all strive to be ‘relatively obedient’. Lots of wiggle room in there.

  16. Awesome, Elyse. I see you and I are cut from the same cloth. One year, for our town’s Street Fair, I sold dog biscuits. Everyone’s favorite was a molasses cookie shaped like a log and rolled in peanuts… the sign read “Pick of the Litterbox.” Wish Duncan a Happy Birthday for me! 🙂

    • I have to admit, when I looked at the picture, I was wondering why you were taking your dog’s poop for a ride in the car. Happy birthday Duncan from your puggle cousin Macho. ❤

      • Thanks for your comment, though I don’t think it was actually intended for me! 🙂 Must admit though, doggy bags and I are pretty close and I have done them for pressies at Christmas from Maggie for her fur-iends

      • From time to time, I DO take Duncan’s poo for a ride, but only when he is sick and it is especially stinky. But I rarely put it on the leather seats of my new-ish car.

Please thank Macho for me. I love the name of the breed “puggl.” We briefly considered getting an “oodle” — a springer spaniel mix. Then I realized that I just wanted to say I had a “sproodle.”
