National Dog Day

Even though every day at my house is Dog Day, I figured I hadn’t posted a picture of Duncan in a while.   Here he is, the Devil!

  1. Nice doggie! He looks like he’d keep you warm in the winter.

Awesome pic Elyse! He looks so put out – Ha! Funny how animals take on teh expressions of their owners. I can just see that look on your face when I read your political pieces. 😀

  3. Tell me, Elyse, does that no-too-pleased look on his face have anything to do with this election cycle? The Donald doesn’t strike me as a dog person…

  6. He looks older than the last pic I saw. A lot older. Whose hand is that?

  7. I love the name! The next town over from us is Duncan and that name was in the lineup for our next dog’s name. Hubby came from San Francisco, so Frisco won. Hims looks dignified 🙂

    • He’s named after the king in MacBeth who was stabbed by MacBeth. We were pretty sure we would want to do the same during puppyhood. This Duncan survived.

The dog in your recent post is a Berner, i’m assuming. We had one who was gorgeous, but just didn’t care about us at all. His loss …

      • Only people in the know say “Berners”. Most say Burmese! Ours is a pigdog. I have never been around a messier creature.

        • We actually moved our Berner, Charlie, to Switzerland. People STILL asked, in the country of his origin, if he was a St Bernard.

Our house had white carpeting. When Charlie got up from a nap, it looked like a crime scene. He was wonderful with my son (aged 1-6 when Charlie died at age 5-1/2) though. He therefore earned his kibble.

That’s a rather large pig you have though.

  8. Our Yorkie, Winston, sends a “sniff, sniff” to Duncan. “Seen any squirrels lately?”

  9. Duncan must have mistaken your camera for a dog biscuit. Good pose, though.

  16. That expression is priceless! I’ll have to do something extra special now for my Ruby to honor her! (Like she isn’t spoiled enough!)

  17. Awwwww … he’s looking ever so sweet and innocent in this photo! I know, I know. Looks can be deceiving. 🙂 My own little crew of two believe that every day is National Dog Day. I’m just here to keep the kibble coming, and to dole out the (too frequent) special treats. Gotta love ’em. 🙂

    • Duncan is growing up, and behaving better as time goes by. And yes, every day is National Dog Day — give your guys a scratch behind the ears for me!

Duncan seems rather unimpressed. Maybe if you tell him it’s Women’s Equality Day he might perk up a bit…you know, sharing his day with with an equally important theme and all 😉
