I want to take away your guns

Yup. I want them too.

The one and only purpose of guns is to kill.

The desire to own guns, and the notion that owning them is some inalienable right of Americans, points to a sickness. The symptoms have been made clear.

I don’t wish to offend anyone who thinks differently, but I can’t imagine a greater offense than the gun violence we’ve seen this year, and the refusal of some to change our laws regulating ownership.

You may say that a law restricting gun ownership is the first step towards taking away your guns.

I hope it is.

Because I want to take away your guns.

You may be a responsible gun owner.

I don’t fucking care.

You feed the monster that is more powerful than Black Lives Matter, more deadly than White Cops, more blind than “Justice.” You feed The NRA, and the business of making money selling guns.

    Sorry, Elyse, but I’m going to disagree with you on this one. To try to take away all guns is impractical and it would just inflame the controversy and boost the sales. You cannot put the genie back in the bottle – guns exist and nothing short of a brutal totalitarian society would be able to disarm every civilian. (I have read that there are 300,000,000 guns in the U.S.) It is also notable that gun and ammo sales have skyrocketed after every mass shooting.

    Also, gun proponents are right that criminals will always have access to guns in our society, so the self-defense argument is valid to that extent, especially in the more crime-ridden areas. The solution as I see it is sensible compromise. Ban military assault weapons and license the rest in order to deny them to criminals and the mentally unfit. And close the background-check loopholes.

    A perfect world is nice to think about, but we will never see it.

      Thanks for worrying, Tippy. But I’m fine. I’m on vacation and frankly trying to not think about the stupidity in the world. Besides I feel like, for the most part, I’ve already written what I think!

        Yes, you have given your thoughts eloquently, meaning times on that subject. Personally though, I’m not tired of it. I hear so much pro-gun stuff, it’s nice to hear the counterpoint.
