Stones Bookends

Next time this happens, I’ll know what to do.

I pulled out of the garage around 8:30 this morning, expecting a stressful day at the office.  I was right — it was a rough day.

But I should have known just how stressful it would be based on the first song to come on the radio:

I should have gone back to bed.  But I didn’t.  I proceeded with my stressful day.  And while I’m not sure I had 19 of them, I certainly came close to a bakers’ dozen nervous breakdowns.  You know the sort of day I mean.  Everybody wants/needs/must have something from me.  Oy.

At about 7:15, I left the office, bringing a briefcase full of documents that I still need to read to prepare for tomorrow’s meetings, where I am anticipating Nervous Breakdowns 14-19.  I just hope the Stones aren’t planning a sequel.

As I approached home and my garage, the Rolling Stones greeted me on the radio again:

Yeah, it was a bitch of a day.

Next time, I’m staying in the garage.

I may be AWOL in the next several weeks.  Work is Cre-a-zayzy.

  1. Oh no! I hate it when a blogging friend is overwhelmed & there is nothing I can do to help. I’m pretty good at data entry if you need to farm some work out. And I work cheap (as in free for blogging buddies)! Hope your days are getting better!

  2. If you’re gonna have any band be involved in your destiny, let it be the Stones. Hope work settles down, but if it’s like any other place, it may never, huh? Well, at least try to get some satisfaction. 🙂

  3. As much as we will miss you while you are away being busy with shoving paper in every direction, we will also be spared from being Stoned again. Sounds like you in the midst of one of those times where you need to wear red practically every day, just to be sure everyone knows you mean business. Stand back folks … Elyse is on the move! Hang in there, sister, and don’t forget that We Love You. We’ll be here when you have a moment to breathe again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klTw94kTstg

    • Thanks, 99. Today was loads better. I could even bank my nervous breakdowns for next week! Good thing, because your antidote wouldn’t play for me :(. I am quite sure I love it, though. I know you!

      • wish I was more technologically capable, so that I wouldn’t park dead ends in your comments page

it was the Stones singing We Love You. Just because I’m not a quitter, I’m going to try embedding the link to see if that works:

  4. Wishing you calmer days in the next few weeks! I love the song “Burning Down the House” when things aren’t going well.

  10. When I worked, I just loved to hear a fast beat oldie on the way. I would sing my lungs out. It helps prepare you for the day (especially in Human Resources). A bad day bookended by the Stones is better than a plain old bad day.

  14. I hope it gets better and that we can still read your posts. You can be a Stones and Beatles fan…just like you can like punk rock and disco. Music is the best.

    • I’ll probably be writing (no substance, though!) but I’ll be hitting like rather than commenting, probably.

As for music, yeah. You can be a Beatles and a Stones fan AND like punk rock. But I draw the line at disco. Except this:

  19. Oh, so sorry to hear it! But I can’t help chuckling at the irony of the music. Maybe you better leave the radio off for a bit. Hope things settle down soon. Sorry you’re so swamped. I’ve been there, and it does indeed suck. I refer to my worst work days as my Prilosec days (when I had to take an antacid to combat my stress-induced gastritis…) Hang in there!
