Thanks. After yesterday’s election, we’re still waiting the results of one vote that separates the Dem from an extremist for Attorney General here in Virginia. That’s the springboard to the Governor’s mansion here. 600 votes …

Not so far :(. It looks like the Republican may pull it off. They are waiting for absentee ballots now, I believe. They tend GOP though. We’ll see.

That’s so true, and, so very sad. I think that there are a lot of people out there who say “well, my vote doesn’t count,” so they don’t vote. I know a few people who don’t vote, and spend a good deal of time complaining about the state of affairs. My personal opinion is that if you don’t vote, you have no right to complain.
Interestingly, we still have this myth that we’re so great at everything, better than every other country, yet, our voting turn out is among the lowest in the world. And, then, of course, there’s all the new laws in various places designed to keep people from voting (because the myth of voter fraud has been allowed to become a mainstream truth.)
If we can put a man on the moon, if we can make phones smart, we damn well should be able to make our voting easier, better, and accessible to all!

We are pretty much on the same page here, John. OF course that’s not unusual!
In my campaign calls this time around, I came across one woman who said she wasn’t voting because she is so disgusted with everybody in politics. She hung up before I could argue that it is just her attitude that leaves us with the assholes. Sigh. I will head off to save Virginia from Crazy Cuccinnelli in a few minutes. Keep your fingers crossed that today is a Blue Day for Virginia!

I think that there is a pervasive feeling that enough other people (maybe more informed people) will go out and vote so I don’t have to. Rubbish! It’s easy enough to become informed and go vote. Then at least you can say you took a stand. Apathy is sure death to democracy.

Not in my book. I really think it is everybody’s responsibility. But this year, especially voters are disgusted and many will stay home. Hopefully here in VA that won’t mean Governor Cuccinelli.
