OK, I am not even going to try to be cute or funny or anything of the sort.
Here are my three questions for Mitt Romney:
Q: If I move to the Middle East, do I get to control my own lady-parts andget equal pay for equal work? Because you don’t think I am entitled to do that here in the U.S., do you?
ROMNEY: Well, my strategy is pretty straightforward, which is to go after the bad guys, to make sure we do our very best to interrupt them, to — to kill them, to take them out of the picture.
But my strategy is broader than that. That’s — that’s important, of course. But the key that we’re going to have to pursue is a — is a pathway to get the Muslim world to be able to reject extremism on its own. […]
And how do we do that? A group of Arab scholars came together, organized by the U.N., to look at how we can help the — the world reject these — these terrorists. And the answer they came up with was this:
One, more economic development …
Number two, better education.
Number three, gender equality.
Number four, the rule of law.
Q: If you change your position on every issue based on who you are talking to, how the hell can any foreign leader know when you mean what you say, when you’re pandering, and when you are telling an outright lie?
And lastly, at least for the moment,
Q: You frequently talk about all your record in Massachusetts, about which you claim to be very proud. If you did such a bang up job, Why are the folks in Massachusetts going to vote for President Obama?

I am from Massachusetts, and I would NEVER vote for Romney! But I wouldn’t vote for Obama right now, either. (NDAA, drone strikes, Gitmo, no policy on climate change).

Urrgh, I had a nice long response which vanished into Word Press space. Grrrr.
I would press my arguments more strongly if Obama wasn’t going to win Mass. I admire your principles, and I like Jill Stein and many of her positions. But until third party candidates have more of a role than as potential spoiler (I don’t think Jill Stein fits that shoe, but I will NEVER forgive Ralph Nader for giving us Bush), I will try to work with what I have. And that’s the Democrats.
I have disappointments with Obama. But I will happily work for him and happily pull the lever (and hope my vote doesn’t get stolen).

I know exactly what you mean, I do! But until a whole bunch of people have the nerve to vote third party, those third parties will never have the power to be more than spoilers. The two big parties have a total stranglehold on the debates, the money, the ads. WE have to have the courage to take our democracy back into our own hands.
I am happy that the horror of the NDAA had let me give up my support for the so called progressives in the Democratic party. I am a true liberal, and I can’t keep supporting the big corporate powerhouses, just because they are “pro-life”, you know? And I really love talking politics with you, too! I agree with you WAY more than I disagree! Thanks for responding and for taking on my crazy radical ideas!

I will absolutely vote for Elizabeth! And if I lived in a swing state, I might hesitate a bit more to vote Green. I just want to find a way to wrench our democracy out of the hands of the bankers and corporations.

I know what you mean, Elyse. My nerves are shot! I’d be extremely confident on a clear win for President Obama if it weren’t for all the voter obstructionism and the dirty money behind the scenes. That’s some scary stuff. But then I think about all the times in history when this same scenerio, or worse, tried to bring a good man/woman down (think Nelson Mandela up against the system of Apartheid), I am comforted in seeing that good does triumph if we stay vigilant enough to guard it. Keep nudging, keep calling, keep writing, and keep the faith. I believe we will triumph! ET

I am so afraid at this point. They are running neck and neck. Romney is slightly ahead in some polls. WTF? Is all I can say. What is wrong with people. He shows over and over again he is inconsistent, without any steel, without any personal ethics, morals, values or opinions. Yet this is a close race. His foreign policy advisers 17 out of 24 of them are from the Bush administration, several of them sit on the the boards of Defense Contractor Lobbyist and Think Tank organizations and have been on news stations beating the drums of war.
I am so afraid, I am afraid that we, that is this nation are just that ignorant.
I voted yesterday. The day early voting opened I was there.

I think it is pathological, his inability to say something that he believes. All he can do is pander and lie. How can anybody trust him? How can anybody vote for him? What are they voting for? Severely conservative Mitt or Moderate Mitt?
And how the hell would someone with no spine stand up to the bad guys in the world or even negotiate with friends from a position of strength?

The news was all atwitter (pardon the inherent pun) that Mittsie had shifted more centric for the last debate, as if it were a surprise. I’m no longer surprised that Mittsie’s political positions are as stiff as boiled water, I’m surprised that the NEWS is surprised by this. I truly believe that Mittsie would claim the sky was orange with green racing stripes if he thought he’d net just one more vote.
I must admit, I loved John Kerry coming out against him. Now if only the moderate Republicans would wake up.
